"POLISH BAR"
_Visually, the film is a bleakly
sumptuous feast. Between the garishly dark extremes of seamy nightclubs
to the dreary barren cold of a winter Midwest urban landscape,
cinematographer Tommy Maddox-Upshaw captures atmospheres, emotions and
locations with thrilling effect. Cinematography is as much (if not more
so) understanding light as it is perceiving angles or points of view.
From the opening shot to the closing frames, Maddox-Upshaw uses light
to beautifully illustrate both the subtle and the startling aspects of Polish Bar’s reality.- Chicago Stage Review Reviews and Features of Chicago Theater, http://www.chicagostagereview.com/?p=15392
"THE INHERITANCE"
_The Inheritance ... his cinematographer Tommy Maddox-Upshaw (Premonition)
provide some great ambience to go along with a commendable cast that
makes this at least an average flick worth checking out ...-MovieMans
